Description
Trinidad and Tobago is the birthplace of the steelpan, which is widely considered to be the only acoustic musical instrument invented in the 20th century. The steelpan, also known as the steel drum, originated in the 1930s and is made from oil drums. It has become a symbol of Trinidadian culture and plays a central role in the country's annual Carnival celebration.
