Description

Claudette Colvin was an African American civil rights activist who, at the age of 15, refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. This act of resistance, 9 months before Rosa Parks, was a catalyst for the Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped spark the Civil Rights Movement. Colvin's bravery and commitment to ending segregation inspired others to take action, including Parks, and she is now recognized as an important figure in the fight for equality and justice.
